Area 51 Identity Revealed in Official Document

U-2The truth that everyone already knew is finally out in the open: Area 51 is not a mythical place and is in fact a Defense Department facility.

Jeffrey T. Richelson, a senior fellow at the National Security Archives, can hold the title of being the one who finally issued the Freedom of Information Act request that didn’t have Area 51 redacted from a document. Richelson request was connected to records on the U-2 program.

The documents released by the government did not unveil any admissions of hidden alien bodies or space contraptions as have long been suggested in books and movies. It did, however, release new information regarding the U-2 program.

The report includes the names of pilots, their codenames and a table with key data on all U-2 flights over the Soviet Union.

It also provides a map of Area 51, which is about 125 miles northwest of Las Vegas, is published in the study.

“It marks an end of official secrecy about the facts of Area 51,” Richelson said in a Las Vegas Sun report. “It opens up the possibility that future accounts of this and other aerial projects will be less redacted, more fully explained in terms of their presence in Area 51.”

      For Americans perhaps.

Area 51 has been known in Russia, China, and most of Europe for at least 45 years.

  • 009

boooorrringgg, you have got to live under a rock not to know this.

    • Steve

The news media will not allow this AREA 51 to a closed area, and so far they are forcing Our government to expose their most top secrets, by their pressuring Our Law Makers in DC. Especially this current Admin who just can’t wait to give out All THE SECRET INFORMATION THEY CAN, BEFORE SOMEONE STOPS THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL???

      • blight_

I guess you could drive out to Groom Lake and see if the Wackenhut guys won’t offer you tea and cookies…or kick your ass out?

  • blight_

Big whoop. Now Obama has a few thousand less documents to keep under lock and key. Whew, government savings.

On the minus side, this means people will stop obsessing about Area 51 and start looking at Palmdale and Edwards…

I’m shocked, SHOCKED to discover the USA really *has* an AREA 51, and use it to fly airplanes from!

    Who-da thunk-it?

  • yogiberra111

Heard everything was moved about 10 years ago to Michael AFB, because of radio activity from Yucca Flats was found in the water. Edwards and Palmdale – that’s history…anyone can see the Skunk Works hangar from Hwy 14 – got the a big logo plastered on the side. Today its just lame glamorless drones being controlled by video gamer weenies, whom the AF want to pretend are pilots. Can you just imagine the war stories being told at the “O” Club ” …”Sure wish they could get some new camo combat chairs, bigger screens and remote color adjustments….. whew tough day”

Utah is indeed the place to be…

  • joe

The UFOs and alien bodies were moved to another facility years ago.

I don’t know why anyone believes “reports” like this, when there is mountains of evidence that says exactly the opposite. Do a little research on the subject instead of only reading websites like this one that say only things that fit into your comfortable world. You just might be surprised.

This is a case of where one can draw on sarcasm and remark,
      “yes, we will believe this,
      wholeheartedly,
      without question,
because we all know how perfectly trustworthy, transparent, and honest
the US government has always been in all matters.”

Reports like what? The one related in the article? The one stating that the Defense Department does in fact have an “Area 51”, and that U-2’s have been flown from there?

What research have you done that proves this incorrect?

No UFO but may have been tested out at Area 51.

This is a VERY STRANGE aircraft and like nothing I have ever seen.

It is at the Adiyaman AB in the UAE. It is outside a hanger and on a tarmac with a TR-1 spy plane and AWACS aircraft. Do you have any idea what it is?

If it’s the one I’m looking at (black or dark grey, tail pointing towards the 3. hangar from the left), it looks like a twin-engine prop plane with a tail-dragger undercarriage and a large forward canopy. The wings look elliptical, and it also seems that the shadow makes the wingspan look greater than it actually is.

If it wasn’t so darn inconceivable [cue “You keep using that word….” joke], I’d say it was a WWII vintage Junkers Ju-388 (http://www.ju388.de/Ju388US.html).

Try posting the link on http://www.secretprojects.co.uk, and let the boffins there take a look at it.

The most famous airplane to be tested at Area 51 was the SR-71 and this article uses a U-2 for the picture? Good job.
