POINDEXTER: MR. NICE GUY?

POINDEXTER: MR. NICE GUY?John Poindexter is no Big Brother; he's a misunderstood technical whiz with a tin ear for politics, the New York Times says in a sympathetic portrait of the man who brought us "Total Information Awareness."

"He may be the only guy in government who deeply understands computers," coos computer columnist John Dvorak.

That understanding helped Poindexter build the Reagan White House's e-mail system. But Poindexter wasn't slick enough to quietly get rid of the 5,000+ e-mails he and Col. Oliver North exchanged about trading arms for hostages and illicitly funding the Nicaraguan Contra rebels.

"What (Poindexter) apparently didn't know was that these messages were still retrievable from the e-mail system's backup tapes," CNN noted.

Brilliant.

There’s only one week left until the voting date, and controversies surrounding both the Democrat and Republican camps continue to surface. News sources are eager to report that the Republican National Committee spent upwards of $150,000 on Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin’s campaign trail wardrobe. Although this story has created a flood of negative publicity, anti-Republican attacks, and the like, I am not falling for it. In fact, both Palin and Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama have spent large sums of money on clothing, and it doesn’t affect my voting decision. After all, we live in a material society where appearance and possessions, more than anything else, are the main things by which we judge people. If you had one candidate blazing the campaign trail in well-selected designer apparel, and the other candidate fully clad in Wal-Mart clothes, the latter would be taken less seriously. Plus, look at all the attention Sarah Palin has received from her pricey wardrobe. Maybe it’s not such a bad political move. Ultimately, I hope that Americans will look past the clothes and form their opinions based on the issues. We need to vote for the candidate that supports our freedom for personal financial responsibility and the continued access to no fax payday loans.

Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been getting more negative attention than positive attention from the media. For example, last Saturday Palin made her late-night entertainment debut on Saturday Night Live. Instead of commending Palin for playing along or mentioning that her appearance gave SNL its highest ratings in 14 years, the press criticized her for her appearance. Palin has been under constant attack; the media has bashed Palin for her performance as Governor of Alaska, the pregnancy of her unmarried 17-year-old daughter, and even her character.

The media has stooped to new lows by implying that the United States would self-destruct should Palin have to replace McCain as president. As is typical with unbalanced news-reporting, these attacks are misconstrued half-truths. In fact, Sarah Palin has a large number of admirers who commend her for her persistent effort to improve the state of Alaska. Other admirers point to her unwavering support of the disabled population and her push for the interests of special-needs individuals, like those with autism and Down syndrome. Many more followers put their trust in Sarah Palin because she advocates for personal responsibility and financial freedom. Palin opposes the elimination of cash advances, a legitimate and invaluable resource because people have the right to financial freedoms and the right to choose to get a PAYDAY LOAN.

Recently release from CNN, David Kernell, the son of a member of the House of Representatives, Mike Kernell, allegedly reset the password and accessed the personal e-mail account of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. He also allegedly read the contents, took a screenshot of her directory, and got into her address book information. Her address book contained the contact information including cell phone numbers of family members as well as birthdates and other information. He also then allegedly posted all of this including the password on a public website. After turning himself in, he pled not guilty. Kernell faces up to 5 years in prison, 3 years of probation and supervision after release, and up to $250,000 in fines. Think about this: to pay that down, he would have to take almost 200 payday loans at the maximum allowed amount of $1,500.
