I don't believe the bone-loss findings puts Mars out of reach by any means. A nuclear craft could accelerate for long periods to maintain a G-force on the crew, and conventionally-powered craft could use a tether+balance system to spin and "simulate" gravity. It's going to be years before anyone funds a Mars exploration, by then we should know enough about the journey to be well prepared.
