Noah's Last Post for Defense Tech

This is my last post for Defense Tech. A little more than four years after I founded the site, I'm taking off, to work on a new journalistic venture.

I've had so much fun running this site, and I'm really proud of the work that we've all been able to accomplish here. But it's time to turn the page.

You can sign up for my mailing list, to get a sense of what the opening sentences on that new page will be. Or you can click on over to my personal site (still very much under construction), which also will have an archive of more than 3,000 Defense Tech entries, dating back to January, 2003.

Most of the best posts had little, if anything, to do with me. The real credit goes to folks like David Axe, David Hambling, Sharon Weinberger, Jeffrey Lewis, Haninah Levine, Jason Sigger, NicholasWeaver, Christian Beckner, Jimmy Wu, Dan Dupont, Matt Tompkins, Peter Singer, Jim Lewis, Ryan Singel, "Murdoc," Nick Schwellenbach, Eric Hundman, Theresa Hitchens, Shane Harris, and "Robot Economist." Their reporting and analysis has is what has made this site special. I was just lucky enough to help collate their contributions. Thank you so much, guys, for allowing me to do so.

Thanks also to tipsters like "RC," "EM," JGP," "AT," DS" – and a bunch of guys whose initials I'm not even allowed to list – who have fed me so many great stories over the years. Thanks, too, to all the commenters (even the trolls!) who have turned this site into such a lively exchange of ideas.

Thanks to all my buddies out there in blogosphere, and all my friends and family in the real world, who encouraged me to start this site in the first place – and propped me up, when I felt like quitting. Lucas Sussman, Victor Ozols, Jason Rapp, Dr. Elizabeth Visceglia, Tom Shachtman, Steve Tuttleman, Carol Guber, Chris Anderson, Adam Rogers, Phil Carter, Xeni Jardin, Joel Johnson, Josh Marshall, Glenn Reynolds, Joe Katzman, Robert Farley, Kevin Drum, Nico Pitney, Cliff Schecter, Matt Stoller, "Ace," "Allahpundit," "Blackfive," John Noonan, Bill Roggio, and a whole bunch of folks I'm sure I'm forgetting: that means you.

Special thanks to Chris Michel, Anne Dwayne, Ward Carroll and all my Overlords at Military.com, for nurturing our little journalistic experiment. They worked hard, and took all kinds of risks, because they believed in what we were doing. I'm sure they'll do a great job keeping Defense Tech going into the future.

Lastly, thanks to everyone who stops by this site. I hope you like what you've read. I'm honored by the time you've spent here. And I hope you'll stay in touch.

You rock, all of you.

Well... we'll miss you, Noah.

I suppose in the end, "Change is the only constant in the universe"

Take care and good luck in your new venture.

Seems like Noah's not allowed to say it here, but he's already got a new home at Wired.
