Paki "Babur"

babur-missile-web.jpg

Pakistan test fired a nuclear-capable cruise missile today reportedly with stealth capabilities. The Hatf VII, or “Babur” as it is known in Pakistan military circles, “is a terrain-hugging, radar-avoiding cruise missile, whose range has now been enhanced to 700 kilometres. It is a highly maneuverable missile with pinpoint accuracy,” a Pakistani military statement said.

(Test Launch Video from August 2005)

The test comes as protests over the firing of Pakistan’s supreme court chief justice by the country’s leader, Pervez Musharraf, continue to grow. The general’s hold on power has always been tenuous – with al Qaeda-linked tribal groups in the west agitating for a Taliban-style government. So this latest missile test could be an attempt to demonstrate his military prowess with angry crowds teeming in the streets.

This is the third test of the Hatf VII missile since 2005, and with its relatively short range, it’s only a threat to neighboring India. Given the raging opposition to Musharraf’s rule, however, a nuclear-tipped Babur in the hands of a fundamentalist government could pose a major threat to U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Is Paki Babur the distant cousin of Tiki Barber?

Move the troops, the Afaganistani civilians, & the India civilians out of the range of danger zones from the missles to begin to nuetralize the threat. Then request the the Pakistani government to move it's citizens & itself out of Pakistan ASAP! Then give the Taliban a chance to surrender & offer them a choice to decline the use of their missles or risk a simular fate on them if they do! Then respond with the force they choose to do! It is up to the Taliban to end this war once & for all!

You people (military menmbers) aren't exactly comprehending the magnitude of the situation. This could basically start a world war not too mention kill thousands of American lives in the process.......Who cares what Paki means.........

Actually the name Pakistan originated from the names of 5 ethnic groups. Punjab, Afghan, Kashmir,... etc (I don't remember the rest). "Paki" does not mean holy.

Too F#$%in bad! The hell with political correctness. Lets call a spade a spade. Isnt it a sham everyone is so thin skinned? It seems its ok to racilly slur a white guy but nobody else. Our politicians have done a fine job of selling out our country.

Ok good let's take a discussion on military news and let it degenerate into a discussion on racial sensitivities.

Posted by: Joel at March 23, 2007 03:20 PM

Uh, from what I understand, the word "Paki" means something like "holy" in the Pakistan language; hence, the name Paki-stan = Holy-land or something like that. So really, it is a compliment if this is true.

Yep, the word Paki is really offensive, a proper racial slur

Posted by: G-Dawg at March 23, 2007 11:30 AM

If "Paki" is similiar to the N-word, what is "Jap", "Kraut", "Limy"? Then either don't read the article, or turn off your computer, or just stay offline!!
IUD's are killing our U.S. men and women, if not maiming them for life! What, Sticks and stones, and IUDs will break bones, names are just words that if You ignore them will fade away like a bad song or music! Get real!!!

I dont know if it's a standard American usage, but "Paki" is extremely offensive in British English - pretty much on a par with the N-word.

These will definately get into the hands of terrorist because much of their military supports that cause. US threat if put on ship and launched for the sea to major port cities in USA.

Since when does pakistan have a nuclear warhead small enough and light enough to fit on that thing? Nuclear capable isn't really nuclear capable if your nukes are too big to fit on it.
