The Sunday Paper - Style Section

After a week of rigorous and at times heated debate here at DT, I thought it might be good to use The Sunday Paper to remind us that we're all on the same team (except for those who read this site who are on the other team, of course).

So, without further ado . . . atten-hut!

I think Macaca captured the essence of my motivation in his comments below, Philip. And what is DT anyway . . . a Fox News doppelganger site?

While we could argue all day about intent (and timing), I assure you my choice here was deliberate.

I think Gary is right, you have missed the point, u may now claim to get it now that Gary has pointed it out to you but u haven't justified why you put hendrix's rendition of the anthem up in DT

Jimmy's rendition of the anthem certainly covers the current foreign policy: all messy and garbled, with a hint of patriotism, absorbed in ones own mindset and intoxicated as hell.

No, Gary . . . I totally GET the point. And what's a DT discussion without someone playing the role of pedant?

Posted by: Ward at April 30, 2007 07:29 AM

Hi

Don't mean to be overly pedantic here but some context is important. Jimi Hendrix played this as an artistic protest at the Vietnam war (hence the frazzled rendition, the scream and horror of war as replicated through his guitar playing), it's always a delight to here this but I feel you have grossly missed the point somewhat.

Regards,

Gary
